STEM Academy
The Flagler County STEM Academy is a project-based, fully integrated Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math program housed at Wadsworth Elementary School.
The program is available to 4th and 5th grade students.
The STEM Academy's mission is to educate and inspire the scientists of the future by providing an engaging environment that empowers students to learn perpetually, using innovative technology, flexible scheduling, and engineering challenges. Students in the program will have access to an
engaging environment that includes
a state-of-the-art engineering lab
.
The required state curriculum is integrated into hands-on, project-based learning activities. Students are offered an advanced curriculum that includes: graphic design, engineering, and robotics. Regular guest speakers and field studies will focus on STEM careers and training. Students will also have the opportunity to participate in local, state, and national competitions.
STEM Academy applicants should be:
Looking for a challenging academic environment.
Willing to participate in weekend STEM competitions.
Inquisitive and self-motivated to learn.
Currently achieving academic success in science and math.
Ready to have fun!
Applications
Students who are interested in the STEM Academy are required to submit an application.
Once an application has been submitted, the applicant's attendance, academics, behavior, and individual ability to collaborate in groups will be reviewed. A personal interview with the student will also be scheduled. The submission of an application does not guarantee placement in the program.
Please
contact STEM Academy teachers
Morgan Phillips
and
Cody Anderson
with any questions about the program.
The STEM Academy application deadline has passed for the 2022–23 school year.
STEM Academy Sponsorships
The Flagler County STEM Academy is a free public school program that relies on private funding to help create a dynamic and challenging curriculum that goes beyond the average school experience.
Each dollar raised from sponsorships and donations goes directly to project costs for students. Supporters can make donations to support specific projects, or enroll in our Sponsorship Program, which helps to support all projects.
Business Sponsorships are $250 each competition year. The business logo on will be used on the back of t-shirts, and displayed on a placard in the STEM lab.
