Celebrate Literacy WeekThe Florida Department of Education has designated January 24–28 as Celebrate Literacy Week, Florida! This week is designed to raise awareness about the importance of reading, and to inspire Florida's students and families to make reading part of their daily routines.

The 2022 Celebrate Literacy Week theme is Launch Into Literacy, Blast Off Into New Worlds! With this theme in mind, Flagler Schools will be reading books with a variety of settings to support the New Worlds Reading Initiative program released this fall. 

Wadsworth Elementary School will celebrate literacy with these fun daily activities:
  • Launch Into LiteracyMonday, January 24th: Launch into Reading Counts! - Earn points by passing tests on books read together or independently. Wear a space-themed shirt.

  • Tuesday, January 25th: Reach for the Stars - Read stories with idioms, and accessorize with 100 stars to celebrate the 100th day of school.

  • Wednesday, January 26th: Space Exploration - Students research a historical figure who made a contribution to space exploration, and share presentations with class.

  • Thursday, January 27th: Out of this World Hair! Read space-themed books, or books about crazy hair. Guest reader appearance on the News show. Show off your craziest hairstyle.

  • Friday, January 28th: Wacky Weather - Read the book Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs, and write your own wacky weather forecast. Come dressed for wacky weather!
